Dan Guthrie, founder of Guthrie PLLC and publisher of the monthly newsletter The White Collar Defense Report®, has been included on the 2020 list of Texas Super Lawyers for his work in white collar criminal defense.
Following a patented methodology that combines a peer review process with independent research, Super Lawyers selects no more than five percent of attorneys in each state for inclusion on the list. Attorneys may not compensate Super Lawyers to be named to the list.
“This year, with adjustments to our tax rules and the Paycheck Protection Program, we’ve seen types of fraud we rarely experienced before,” Mr. Guthrie said. “Well-meaning executives who want to do right by their companies, but perhaps don’t fully understand the rules, end up risking prosecution. It’s an honor for me to be recognized for helping my clients restore their, and their companies’, reputations.”
Having practiced for more than three decades, Mr. Guthrie understands that white collar defense is a multifaceted practice that involves multiple areas of knowledge. As a result, he has built a team of forensic accountants, computer forensic experts, and investigators who were formerly special agents with the FBI and IRS to assist with his cases.
Mr. Guthrie has successfully handled white collar defense cases for entrepreneurs; individuals; attorneys and law firms; medical providers, including doctors and hospital administrators; and large and small businesses across the country.
Rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, Mr. Guthrie is admitted to practice before the Northern District of Texas, the Southern District of Texas, the Eastern District of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Tax Court and the Supreme Court of the United States.
He can also be admitted to practice before any federal district court, which allows him to handle federal cases anywhere in the United States.
